This crown mounting combines security for a large stone (8 sturdy prongs) with the feminine look of filigree. The delicate openwork doesn't stop at the crown head, but continues down the shoulders -- fine strands and a tiny "keyhole" opening on the top surface, edged with tiny engraved wheat patterns. It all narrows to a smooth lower shank.
