This distinctive mounting starts with a wide "cigar band" shank - flat surface and uniform width all around the finger. The top side (shoulders) is defined by a raised pattern with a curled X, extending to the opening for the oval head. The 6-prong head is so large it takes a 1 to 2½ carat stone, yet still doesn't extend beyond the extra-wide shank. This weighty mounting suits the hand of a gentleman or mature lady.
